Why is Counties Manukau District Health Board now called Te Whatu Ora Counties Manuaku?
Like many things in life, the names of some familiar institutions are changing. This includes Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB).
The good news is that these changes will provide more equitable and accessible health care to all people. Quite simply, the name Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) means the weaving of wellness. It is the combining together of people, resources, thoughts and actions for the betterment and well-being of all.
To begin with, 2022 saw some very big changes to New Zealand’s national public health service. We now have fewer district health boards, but the service you receive will look the same as before. All in all, changes are being made to improve the health and wellbeing of all New New Zealanders.
